All of the children have a reading book and reading record. Children are expected to read three or more times at home and are reward with points for their house team and towards their lanyard. At the back of their reading record there is an envelope with the Year 2 common exception words. After reading with a staff member we check if the children can read and spell the common exception words in their envelope. If they get 3/5 then we add the next five words to practice. There is a spelling station in class for children to access.
We have a times tables test every Friday. Below you can find the document with all the tables we focus on in Year 2. In class their is a times table station with practise tests for the children to have a go at as well as a maths area with daily written maths challenges.
Homework is also set though Purple Mash and follows on from what has been learnt in our weekly computing session.
Additional homework packs are sent out over the holidays and children receive points for each piece they return to school.
