They work alongside The Headteacher and the staff to ensure that high levels of attainment and achievement are attained by monitoring what is happening in school  They set budgets and agree major items of expenditure. The Full Governing Body Meetings are once each Derbyshire Term, with Committee meetings in between.

                            Matthew Bunting

                            Parent Governor

My background is in IT. I was appointed while my daughter was at the school; now she has left I want to continue to contribute to the running of the school so as to make it the best it can be, and where the pupils can achieve their best.

                        Miss Janine Barkes

                             Staff Governor

                      Mrs Sharon James

As Headteacher of the school, I sit on the full governing body as well as the resources and teaching and learning sub-committees.  I have been a school governor at three different schools and have over 25 years of experience in education.

I am originally from West Yorkshire, and grew up in Greetland, near Halifax.  After leaving school, I worked for Barclays Bank for a few years but soon decided that I wanted to be a teacher!  I attended the University of Derby to do a BED (Hons) and have taught in Primary Schools ever since.

I believe that by working together as a governing body, we can ensure that the children and parents of Grassmoor are receiving the best education and support that they truly deserve.

I love my job and am proud to be the headteacher of Grassmoor Primary School.

Mr Tony Booker

Co-opted Governor

Zaibun Hartshorn

Parent Governor

Hi my name is Zaibun Hartshorn and I started as a Governor in February 2020. My Son is currently in Nursery and will be attending his first year at the school in September and my daughter cannot wait to attend here also.

Previously I have had many different job roles, from working as a cleaner to a security guard to being care worker supporting Adults with Autism. I have been a jack of all trades and finally mastered one which was being a mum.

For me it is important to give my children better opportunities for their future. I feel that some of that starts in school and in their wider community as well as at home. Learning is about having fun but also about new experiences. For a child, school should be a lovely memory where a child can look back and think of those people that influenced their future.

That is why I feel every child should have not just accessible opportunities, but also a chance to make wonderful and happy memories. This is what I strive towards, not just for my children but for every child.
