Grassmoor Primary School

School Parliament

Each year the children at Key Stage 1 and 2 elect two children per year group (six in Year 6 to form the cabinet) to represent them on the School Parliament.
The Parliament meet with Mrs James and Miss Eyre fortnightly. This is a forum for children to pass on any concerns that they might have and made suggestions as to how the school could be improved.
The School Parliament raise money for charities and often represent the school at special occasions. They are a very valued group of our school community.

To date, the School Parliament have made a range of important decisions for the school by listening to the children's suggestions and concerns. Examples of this include:

Designing the adventure playground

Providing a bin on the top field

Organising and encouraging children to run their own clubs

Installing  a 'Worry Box' so that children can submit their concerns confidentially

Providing action plans on how to improve the learning environments in each classroom

Deciding on which charities to support

Designing posters to help with Climate Change

Making decisions about special events such as Children in Need
