General Information

To encourage greater independence in Year 2, we like the children to come into school by themselves.  A member of the Y2 team will be at the door or on the playground to greet but please encourage your child to enter school by themselves.  Thank you for your support.

PE kits

Our PE day is Friday with Miss Jennings.  Please make sure your child comes to school in their house team PE kit on this day.

You can find out more about our PE expectations here.

Reading at Home

Please read with your child, daily if possible, but at least three times a week. Remember to write in your child’s reading diary, so that we have a record in school of the reading they are doing at home. This can be your child's reading book and anything else they are reading too. It doesn’t need to be a whole book; a few pages is fine!  We change reading books on a Friday.  Library is once a week. Please make sure your child has their book bag, reading book and library book each day. We award Dojo Points to all children who are reading regularly at home.

Homework

In addition to reading, we expect all children to learn and practise spellings, basic addition and subtraction skills and times tables as part of their homework.

Weekly spellings are set on Spelling Shed (look in the ‘assignments’ section for the current week’s spellings). Login details for Spelling Shed can be found in your child’s reading record.

Numbots is an online learning game that helps children build fluency in basic addition and subtraction skills through interactive activities. Login details for Numbots can be found in your child’s reading record, using the TT Rockstars login.

Times tables and related division facts are practised on Times Table Rockstars. Children are encouraged to practise their times table and division facts on TT Rockstars a few times a week to develop fluency and quick recall of number facts.  Please make sure only your child accesses their TT Rockstars account, so that we can make accurate assessments of their knowledge of times tables.  Login details for TT Rockstars can be found in your child’s reading record.

Thank you for supporting your child with their learning at home.
